It was a pleasure to welcome Carolyn Parrish, Mayor of Mississauga, to Damera Group's headquarters in Mississauga and Mississauga Bus, Coach & Truck (MBCT) facility, providing an opportunity to share how our businesses have grown internationally while continuing to invest in the community we call home.
The meeting was a great opportunity for us to discuss the growing opportunities in the region and provide a closer look at the people, technologies and technical capabilities behind our work in public transportation and beyond.
During the visit, Mayor Parrish toured our facilities and had an opportunity to see firsthand the equipment, technical operations, capabilities and vehicle systems involved in maintaining and supporting commercial and public transit fleets.

Mississauga is home to far more than corporate offices and distribution centres. It is also home to specialized businesses, skilled trades and technical expertise that support essential infrastructure across Ontario and Canada. Mississauga has played an important role in our development, providing access to established industrial infrastructure, and a dynamic business community.
The City continues to advance initiatives focused on economic development, business competitiveness and closer engagement with local industry. We recognize the important role of municipal leadership in creating an environment where businesses can invest, innovate and develop. For businesses like Damera Group, these priorities matter.
Over the last several years Damera has expanded internationally, but our continued connection to the region can be seen every day.
Our experience in Mississauga helps us support customers in other markets, while international partnerships and new business opportunities create further demand for the knowledge, skills and technical capabilities developed here.

As our businesses expand into new markets and develop additional services, we continue to invest in local facilities, equipment, technical capabilities and the skilled people who make our growth possible.
Mississauga is a base from which we draw expertise that can support customers and transportation systems across Canada and beyond.
Continued dialogue between industry and government is essential to addressing business challenges, supporting sustainable growth and creating new opportunities for investment, innovation and skilled employment in the region.
The original company in Damera Group, MBCT - Mississauga Bus, Coach & Truck Repairs, was founded in 2002. Since then Damera Group has evolved from its beginnings in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair into a diversified group of companies with an expanding presence across North America and the Caribbean, supported by international partnerships.
Today, our businesses bring together expertise in public transit vehicle engineering and distribution, fleet maintenance and refurbishment, electrification, charging infrastructure, energy storage, international transportation solutions and defence vehicle sustainment.

Through Damera Corporation, MBCT, Damera International and Damera Defence, Damera Group serves different industries and markets, connected by a shared foundation of technical expertise and practical experience with complex vehicle systems.
Although our businesses operate in different markets, they share an understanding of the importance of engineering quality, maintainability, reliability and long-term operational support.

Modern commercial and public-transit vehicles are increasingly sophisticated, requiring specialized equipment, trained technicians and continually evolving technical knowledge. Advanced vehicle electronics, diagnostics and control systems are now integral to fleet maintenance.
Damera has been an early adopter of emerging transportation technologies, recognizing the importance of investing in both innovation and the people who make it possible.
We were among the early supporters of bringing TÜV high-voltage training to Canada, helping our technicians develop the specialized skills required to safely service and maintain electric vehicles.
Our commitment to innovation extends to hydrogen technologies, where we have been an early advocate, investing in both technical training and technology development.
As the transition to electrification advances, Damera Corporation also provides not only electric buses, but also charging solutions, technical guidance and specialized training, helping transit agencies prepare not only for the introduction of electric vehicles but also to build the infrastructure.
Damera was also among the first automotive companies to establish a formal partnership with an autonomous driving technology provider, investing in comprehensive training to prepare our team to work with this rapidly advancing technology.

That is why we know that introducing new vehicles and technologies is only one part of modernizing transportation. Maintaining and supporting them throughout their working lives is equally important.
From diagnostics and preventative maintenance to complex repairs, refurbishment, parts support and lifecycle fleet management, our Mississauga operations help keep commercial and public-transit vehicles operating safely and reliably.
At Damera Group, we are particularly proud of our team's dedication to developing new capabilities, embracing emerging technologies and strengthening Ontario's technical expertise. We were pleased to share these achievements with Mayor Carolyn Parrish and demonstrate how continued investment in our people is helping advance the future of transportation here in Ontario.

The future of transportation depend on the people. For this reason Damera strongly believes in investing in technologies and training for the future.
The Mayor’s visit provided an opportunity not only to demonstrate our capabilities firsthand but also to discuss the role that locally based businesses can play in building a stronger transportation ecosystem.

One of the ideas shaping Damera Corporation's approach to public transportation is right-sized transit: matching vehicle size, capacity and technology to the actual requirements of a route or service.
Not every trip requires the same vehicle.
High-capacity corridors remain essential, while neighbourhood feeders, first/last-mile connections, campus circulation, paratransit, microtransit and lower-demand routes can have very different operating requirements.
By giving agencies access to smaller, accessible electric transit vehicles alongside the infrastructure and technical support required to operate them, right-sizing can help agencies deploy capacity where it is needed while maintaining accessibility, reliability and passenger comfort.
Pictured below is the Karsan eJEST, a fully electric, low-floor minibus distributed in North America by Damera Corporation. Its right-sized design gives transit agencies an economical option for routes and services where the capacity of a larger bus may not be required, while maintaining accessibility, passenger comfort and zero-tailpipe-emission operation.

Our approach also extends beyond vehicle selection.
Damera works in the engineering and integration of electric technologies, bringing together vehicle systems, high-voltage components, charging infrastructure and technical expertise to support practical fleet applications. This allows us to look at electrification as a complete operating system—not simply as a vehicle purchase.
Recognizing that the vehicle is only one part of the transition, Damera Corporation supports electric bus deployments with charging solutions and technical guidance, helping agencies consider the vehicle and the infrastructure required to operate it as one integrated system.

And our Mississauga facility is where these capabilities come together.
Here, new vehicles and technologies can be considered alongside the realities of fleet operations. Technical teams work across vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance, parts, high-voltage technologies and charging solutions. Experience gained from supporting vehicles throughout their lifecycle also informs how Damera engineers, evaluates and introduces new transit technologies.
That connection is important. Innovation doesn't end when a vehicle is delivered.

For new mobility technologies to create lasting value, they must work in real operating environments, be maintainable by trained teams and remain supportable throughout their working lives. Bringing engineering, vehicle technology and lifecycle expertise together helps bridge the distance between an innovative idea and a transportation solution that can perform every day.

We sincerely thank Mayor Carolyn Parrish for visiting Damera Group, meeting our team and taking the time to learn more about the work being done in Mississauga.
We appreciate the City's continued focus on economic development, local industry and skilled employment. Opportunities for dialogue between municipal leadership and businesses are important in understanding the evolving needs of industry and creating an environment where companies can continue to invest, innovate and grow.
As Damera Group expands its presence across international markets, we remain proud of our Mississauga roots and the role this community continues to play in our development.
Our reach may be global, but Mississauga remains our home.
